# Risk Management and Operational Safeguards

This section outlines the mechanisms SuperPumped uses to protect user funds, liquidity provider capital, and protocol stability. It explains how the protocol proactively manages risk, prevents operational failures, explicitly handles financial losses, and defines the scope of its privacy protections. Together, these safeguards ensure that leveraged trading remains secure, transparent, and resilient under both normal and adverse market conditions.

## 7.1 Preventive Controls

Describes the proactive risk management measures implemented before a leveraged position is opened. These include user-specific position limits, leverage caps, market eligibility checks, liquidity requirements, slippage controls, protocol pause mechanisms, and safeguards around market resolution timing to minimize unnecessary risk.

## 7.2 Failure Controls

Explains the mechanisms used to safely handle operational failures during the leverage lifecycle. The protocol employs lifecycle locks, idempotent operations, resumable close requests, capital transaction tracking, reconciliation metadata, and explicit default recognition to ensure failures can be recovered without compromising capital integrity.

## 7.3 Why Bad Debt Must Be Explicit

Explains why the protocol intentionally records bad debt whenever a leveraged position cannot fully repay borrowed capital.
